Hi all!
Reminder... we are NOT meeting the Friday after Thanksgiving.
Last Friday was fantastic! We had a good group and it seems like we are starting to get a good flow on things. Hopefully everyone agrees :-D.
Ongoing Requests:
If you have been gifted in the ability to teach larger groups, and would like to, and are not otherwise needed, we could use some help with running Group A and Group B PE games. This would not be every week and I would be happy to come up with activities for you if necessary--I just need someone to help facilitate the activities. Let me know if this is something you would like to do. If you can't do this, please pray for someone who LIKES to do this.
Also...we need more balls. If you would like to bring a ball, that would be helpful. All kinds of balls...beach balls, volleyballs, basketballs, whiffle balls... We can incorporate whatever we get into various games.
Here is what is on the agenda for this week:
From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:
Group A-- Ages 5-8
You will be working with the horses this week. We will be going over the basics of Roundpenning, how horses communicate, grooming, and then you will have the opportunity to play a game with the miniature horses. Please note: horses--even extremely well-behaved miniature horses--have a mind of their own and have the potential to inflict injury. Although my horses love people and have NEVER hurt anyone (and we've had hundreds of people around them over the years), since this is a large group for me to watch, for safety sake, if your child is not able to follow directions, this may be a good day to stay home. If you do not feel your child can handle this, but you still want to have the interaction with the minis, please let me know and I'll work out a time for there to be a 1:1 with them.
Materials Needed:
None
Group B-- Ages 9-12
You will be doing PE this week. We're thinking a good old fashioned game of kickball this week, but that might change depending on how many kids we have. This week will take place in the pasture...so less dust, but more sun. Be prepared! Sunscreen and water bottles are recommended.
Materials Needed:
Tennis shoes and comfortable clothes
Water
Group C-- Ages 13-18
You will be doing Gardening this week. You will be starting work on your on-going chicken garden project. You will be putting some plants in your pots and designing a landscaping scheme to beautify that area (and keep the chickens happy). Please be prepared to get dirty. If you want to wear gardening gloves, please bring your own. If there is time, you will be journaling about the garden. You will have a choice of either writing about the garden or making a sketch/drawing.
Please note: Teens are held to a slightly higher standard than the younger kids. If you choose not to participate in the activity of the day, we will "volunteer" you to help with the younger kids. A respectful, pleasant attitude is expected. You have been warned...
Materials Needed:
A pot--any size. Feel free to decorate it as you see fit (appropriately, given the code of conduct, of course). Remember that your pot will be outdoors if that makes a difference on any paint you might use. Your pot does not have to be decorated and if you forget to bring a pot, it is okay...still come ;-).
Journal or a Sketch Pad (or both)
We will have some crayons/markers, but you should bring your own pen/pencil also.

Movement Therapy/Stretching with Paula
After the group activities, Paula will host a Movement Therapy/Stretching class in the front yard area. Please let Ms. Paula know if you are wanting to do this class. She doesn't want to interfere with anyone's fun by announcing it is happening, but she would love to come get you if you are wanting to stretch with her. All body types/ strength levels are encouraged to attend. Paula is absolutely AMAZING. She designs her stretches based on the needs of the class, which she can see simply by how you normally move.

Picnic Lunch
Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
