January 16th

Hi All!

The weather is beautiful and everyone is healthy (so far!), so we will be having co-op this week! I have missed you guys! 

Speaking of beautiful weather...our lemons have finally ripened. Normally this means we have a lemonade making class, but this year, my son, Conan, has asked to have a lemonade stand instead. I would like to support his entrepreneurial spirit, so I told him he could. He makes delicious lemonade!  So if you want to help support him (and get some delicious, fair-quality lemonade), dig through your couch and find some extra change. He is charging $0.75 per cup or $1 for two. 

As to what is new on the farm, we had ANOTHER batch of ducklings found and we are running into duck-nesting season. I need help finding these nests!  So those of you who like Easter egg hunts can feel free to find hidden duck nests. And I will let you choose to keep any duck eggs you find. They are getting good at hiding!!

Also on the farm: GOAT KIDDING SEASON!!! It's my favorite time of the year! 🥰🥰  This Saturday will be our major barn cleaning day (feel free to reach out if you enjoy shoveling a literal ton of sand into a tractor over the course of several hours and want to volunteer to help my boys...I'll put you to work 😉).  Next week will be barn disinfecting and Mr. D adding in temporary kidding stalls.  Then our first does are due anytime after February 1st (or possible as early as January 30th). For those of you who are newer, if a doe goes into labor on a Friday, all activities are put on hold and there is a "Free Day" for those who come. Those who are capable of sitting quietly in the barn (and I am very strict on the quiet part) may also have the opportunity to observe the goat birth as long as I feel the doe is having a typical birth without complications.  If you think you might want to get a text when a doe goes into labor so you can watch, let me know and I will add you into my text chain. Schedule for Friday, January 16, 2026

From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:

Sadly, Ms. Paula is sick.  We'll do the scheduled grouping next week.  Updated schedule is:

Group A--Project

Group B and C-- Kickball

Group A-- Ages 5-8

You will be doing Gardening this week. 

Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. 

Materials Needed: 

Sunscreen if you so desire.

Water Bottles. (Though the water in the shop kitchen is drinkable, we do not have enough cups to provide water for all of the thirsty kiddos that come to the farm.) 

Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Group B--Ages 9-12  

You will be doing P.E. this week. Please note that whatever activity Mr. D. leads you in, you are expected to stay the entire time. 

Materials Needed: 

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire. 

A willingness to learn

Athletic shoes of some sort are recommended

Group C--Ages 13-18

You will be doing Project this week. 

Materials Needed: 

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire. 

Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty and/or wet.

A great attitude!

Those teenagers that do not feel like participating in the Project are welcome to volunteer with Group A. Please note, you WILL be put to work if you volunteer in that capacity!

Picnic Lunch

Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can. 

Mark your calendars. There will be NO co-op these days:

February 6th (Baby has an appointment)

March 6th (Baby has a surgery to fix her cleft palate)

April 3rd (Good Friday)

April 17th (My daughter is getting married!!!)

I apologize in advance for taking so many days off, but it really couldn't be helped. We are taking off for all good things though!  Hopefully we won't miss any additional weeks due to weather/illness!
