April 10th

Hi All!

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend. 🥰  Once again this week got away from me, but yes, we are meeting tomorrow.

But before we discuss tomorrow's activities, we have a new farm update:

KEVIN HATCHED HIS BABIES!!!

You read that correctly... Kevin hatched HIS babies. Kevin is our male emu and in emus, the males set on the eggs the female emus lay. Kevin has been sitting on the eggs for 2 months and last week two babies hatched. We are giving him until next week to hatch out anymore, just in case, but if he sits on the eggs too much longer, it will be detrimental to him. He doesn't eat very much or drink very much the entire time he is on his eggs. He has lost quite a bit of weight, so it's important that the farmer remove the eggs once we are sure there aren't any other viable eggs.

Kevin freely handed over his babies to me, but he will not let our female, Marge, anywhere near them. I continue to check daily, but we are still only at two. We are calling the babies Bart and Di (pronounced like the letter d). We don't their sex yet because unless you have the egg shell, (which we don't because they hatched under Kevin),you have to send in either a blood sample or feathers to find out if they're male or female. We'll find out eventually,

We will not be bringing them out to co-op tomorrow. They are still brand new babies do they need extra protection. But here are some pictures!

Now for this Friday's activities...

From 10ish-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:

Group A-- Ages 5-8

You will be doing Project this week.

Materials Needed:

A water bottle to drink out of (if you think you may get thirsty)

Sunscreen...if you so desire.

Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. 💗

You will be doing Gardening this week.

Materials Needed:

  • Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.
  • And clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
