I am ridiculously excited about hosting our very first (hopefully of many!) Homeschool Day.
If you want to know more about what we are doing, please click on the link to the page entitled: "What is Homeschool Days?"
Also, if you have not yet read our farm Code of Conduct, please do so before coming. You will also need to sign a one-time Waiver (because that's just the world we live in). A copy of the Code of Conduct as well as the Waiver will be on site for those who need it.
And now...on to the festivities!
From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:
Group A-- Ages 5-9
You will be participating in PE this week. Please wear tennis shoes and clothes you can move in. Sample activities that we might participate in (all depends on how many kids we have) are:
Lava Walk (kids shred up cardboard and can't touch the ground...pretty sure we will do this one!)
Forms of Catch
Balloon Games
Relay Races
Materials Needed:
None
Group B-- Ages 10-13
You will be doing Gardening this week. Ms. Paula will be leading you on an introductory tour of our gardens and introducing you to gardening basics. You will hopefully be making some flower bombs for our wildflower garden as well as a few to take home. Please be prepared to get dirty. If you want to wear gardening gloves, please bring your own.
Materials Needed:
Journal or a Sketch Pad (or both)
We will have some crayons/markers, but you should bring your own pen/pencil also.
Group C-- Ages 14-18
You will be working on 2-Liter Bottle Water Rockets this week. Many of you may have done this project at home already, however, we figured this was a good ice breaker project--and who doesn't love shooting things up into the air??
Materials Needed:
Empty, Clean 2-liter bottles (as many as you can bring, but at least 2)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Picnic Lunch
Whenever the groups are done, we will break for lunch. Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yoga/Stretching with Paula
After lunch, around 1:00, Paula will host a Yoga/Stretching class in the front yard/basketball area. This class is free, however, tips/donations/thank you notes are welcome.
