Hi All!
The countdown to summer break is getting close...only this week and next. I am going to miss all of you! But Ms. Paula and I are already talking over ideas for starting again in the fall and we have a lot of good projects planned. (Mr. D. will probably continue doing PE unless someone else wants to take over for him--we MIGHT even get him to play something other than kickball next year!) But in all seriousness, I am super thankful for both Ms. Paula and Mr. D., as well as Mrs. Morris and all of you other wonderful parents who have stepped in to help in various ways--we could not have done this without all of your help!
Now, on to business...

Second:
Potluck Sign-up
Since we all decided to do a potluck, I thought I would make a sign-up genius so not everyone brings the same things. These are just suggestions. If you have something that you want to bring that doesn't fit into these categories...bring it! I'm just trying to put some sort of organization out there. We will have our kitchen refrigerator cleaned out and we will have plugs for warm food if you bring them in a crockpot, but we do not have ovens/stoves for "public" use, so keep that in mind. We will provide lemon-flavored sugar water (lemonade) and regular water. If you want something else, please BYOB.
We typically average about 60 kids plus their parents each week. Do not feel like you need to provide enough for 60...just bring what you can. We will provide plates, cups, paper towels, and plastic silverware. Put your name on anything you want to make sure goes home to you, so we can attempt to return anything that you might forget ;-).
This is meant to be fun! Don't feel like you HAVE to bring something in order to participate. We always seem to have enough for everyone to have something...we can always raid the garden if we have to!

And now on to the fun stuff!
Here is what is on the agenda for this week:
From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:
Group A-- Ages 5-8
You will be doing PE this week. Sunscreen and water bottles are recommended. Prepare to run and have fun in the sun!
Materials Needed:
Tennis shoes and comfortable clothes
Water
Group B-- Ages 9-12
You will be doing Gardening this week. Please be prepared to get dirty. If you want to wear gardening gloves, please bring your own. Come prepared to learn, since Ms. Paula is a wealth of information!
Materials Needed:
Garden gloves if you want them
Group C-- Ages 13-18
It's Escape the Backyard time for the teenagers! I've been having so much fun with these and I have a bunch of challenging puzzles for this bunch. Come prepared to work together to solve some tricky puzzles and work your way towards the freezer key and some really yummy ice cream!
Materials Needed:
If you have an allergy or other aversion to ice cream, bring your own frozen treat
Please note: Teens are held to a slightly higher standard than the younger kids. If you choose not to participate in the activity of the day, we will "volunteer" you to help with the younger kids. A respectful, pleasant attitude is expected. You have been warned...

Movement Therapy/Stretching with Ms. Paula
After the group activities, Ms. Paula will host a Movement Therapy/Stretching class in the front yard area. Please let Ms. Paula know if you are wanting to do this class. She doesn't want to interfere with anyone's fun by announcing it is happening, but she would love to come get you if you are wanting to stretch with her. All body types/ strength levels are encouraged to attend. Ms. Paula is absolutely AMAZING. She designs her stretches based on the needs of the class, which she can see simply by how you normally move.

Picnic Lunch
Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
