Just Checking In!

 Hi All!

It's been a while since I checked in with everyone, so I thought I'd give a quick summer update.  First, be on the lookout for a "water day" get together sometime either the last week in June or mid-July. It will be on a Friday and I will only post it on here, so if you don't check the blog, you might miss out. This may or may not happen... it really depends on how hectic my life feels that week! It also depends on our irrigation schedule, which increases in the summer. If we don't get together again this summer, I'm looking at our first official day back being September 16th. But again, watch the blog.

Second, if you are missing out on gardening and want to come pull weeds,
Paula would be happy to have your help and would be happy to share gardening tips ;-).   This would not be an activity time so to speak--she'll put you to work and leave you to it! But if you are dying to get your hands dirty and can't wait for the fall, let me know. I'll pass along your information to her and let you all work out the details!

And now for photo updates...

Here is what the wildflower garden looks like. FINALLY, all those flowers you planted grew! (and so did all the weeds! ;-) )  So beautiful!!

As for new animals...we have those too!

Meet Kevin and Margie.

Emus apparently have difficulty moving across country in trailers, so my neighbor asked me to take them for her when she moved from Arizona to Missouri. We love them. They are about 8 years old and can live to around 15 years. They are a great new addition to the pasture... especially since they are omnivores and require very little maintenance!
Kevin really enjoys dog food... we are training him to follow us with a bucket of food.
Margie enjoys snuggles (but only with a few people at a time).

Our puppies are getting bigger and are learning to do their jobs more efficiently.

And Ariana keeps up a steady stream of baby chickens (make sure to follow her on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/davisfamilychickens/  She plans to post daily either about her chickens, chicken jokes, tips for having healthy chickens, or just educational posts on various aspects of chickens.
(and if you know anyone looking for chickens or eggs for incubators, send them her way!)

And that's about it for now!  Check in on Fridays over the summer to see if I feel like having people over. Otherwise, I'll see you in September!
