October 21st

 Hi All!

I hope you are enjoying your week. We had a TON of rain over the weekend--we still haven't dried out!  I'm guessing we should be good by Friday though. At least I hope so... I can't wait to play Oregon Trail again! I'm sure I had more fun than those kids did!

A few new things to report:

First, the Baffle Club has a new name: Sword Wars!  Their first meeting will be THIS Saturday (October 22nd). Here is a link to THEIR blog, which has more information.  It looks like so much fun! (The blog is a work in progress ;-) )

Second, for those of you who are interested in participating in a Yearbook for this Homeschool Co-op, here is a link for posting pictures. Even if you do not want to buy a yearbook, please feel free to post any pictures that you take here so that Josiah can collect them to put in the book:

Third, we got a brand-new brooder!  No more warnings about keeping your hands off those chicks--they are self-contained now. (This thing is way bigger than it looks! My daughter is so excited!)

And now onto the important things...

Schedule for Friday, October 21, 2022

From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:

Group A-- Ages 5-8

You will be doing Gardening this week. You guys will be continuing to work in your Fairy Garden and learning some fun things along the way.  So... get ready to play in the dirt and have some fun, while learning a lot about growing plants.

Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. <3

Materials Needed:

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.

And clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Garden gloves if you think you want them.

OPTIONAL (but recommended): If you would like to bring some little fairy garden decorations to put in the garden (permanently), please feel free to bring whatever you would like. We would like the kiddos to feel like they are contributing something, and we plan to move these around periodically to add a little whimsy to the area.

Group B--Ages 9-12

You will be doing P.E. this week. You will be out in the pasture where there isn't a lot of shade. Be prepared to be hot!  Sunscreen and water bottles are recommended.

Materials Needed:

Tennis shoes and comfortable clothes

Water bottles

Sunscreen if you so desire

Group C--Ages 13-18

You will be doing the Project this week. Just like with Group B, you will be playing Live Action Oregon Trail.  Come prepared to learn how difficult it was for the pioneers to survive as they traveled out West. Your "wagon" will work together to "build shelters", "hunt animals" and "survive dysentery"...among other great skills--all in great fun, of course. I'm super excited! (You know I love to play games!)  I learned a lot from Group B last week, and way more teens should be killed off this week! :-D.  Have some fun and try not to run out of spare parts and winter clothes!

Materials Needed:

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.

Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

A great attitude!

Those teenagers that do not feel like participating in the Project are welcome to volunteer with Group A. Please note: you WILL be put to work if you volunteer in that capacity!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Picnic Lunch

Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
