Things that make me happy...
E. made this beautiful drawing and then described it to me in perfect homeschooler fashion: Farm/ruris (that's farm in Latin for those of you, like me, who aren't as smart as E.), Goat (that says, "maaa"), Chicken, and at the bottom, the two of us standing next to the project we worked on (a xylophone out of PVC pipes). Hi All!
I am absolutely in love with the PVC Xylophone Group B made last week:
Isn't it beautiful! We will be putting this project (and the ones from the next two weeks) up in the wildflower garden for the kids to play with while we are waiting for the mornings to start (and because music in the garden just sounds like a nice idea ;-) ). Looking forward to seeing how the next two Musical Garden Art projects turn out!
Also, please note, when I am making the sign-in sheets, I sort them by age, regardless of which group the kiddos end up in. It is okay to put them in a group that fits them better, either mentally or physically. I realize that it is sometimes especially hard to decide which group is the best fit for the 8-9 year old range. It is okay to put them back and forth between group A and group B until you find the best fit for your child (that can change week by week if necessary). Just sign them in on the sheet that fits their age.
Here is what is on the agenda for this week:
From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:
Group A-- Ages 5-8
You will be exploring the science behind sound waves and xylophones. You will be working together to make and decorate a large wooden xylophone, which means be prepared for your clothes, shoes, hands, face, hair, etc. to get paint on them. Come in a musical mood!Materials Needed: Clothes that can get painted on.
Group B-- Ages 9-12
You will be doing PE this week. Once again, we MIGHT get the 9 square court up and running, but probably not. Be prepared for another round of kickball or some other fun team game that Mr. D has up his sleeves. And have FUN!!
Materials Needed: Tennis shoes, comfortable clothes and WATER. LOTS of water!
Group C-- Ages 13-18
You will be doing Gardening this week. Please be prepared to get dirty. If you want to wear gardening gloves, please bring your own. Come prepared to learn, since Ms. Paula is a wealth of information!
Please note: Teens are held to a slightly higher standard than the younger kids. If you choose not to participate in the activity of the day, we will "volunteer" you to help with the younger kids. A respectful, pleasant attitude is expected. You have been warned...

Movement Therapy/Stretching with Ms. Paula
After the group activities, Ms. Paula will host a Movement Therapy/Stretching class in the front yard area. Please let Ms. Paula know if you are wanting to do this class. She doesn't want to interfere with anyone's fun by announcing it is happening, but she would love to come get you if you are wanting to stretch with her. All body types/ strength levels are encouraged to attend. Ms. Paula is absolutely AMAZING. She designs her stretches based on the needs of the class, which she can see simply by how you normally move.

Picnic Lunch
Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
