Welcome back!
I am so excited to have everyone back at the farm! You have been missed!
There are a few updates to share.
First, we still have Lost/Found items left over from last year. We'll put them out front during sign-in time. Please take your old stuff :-D.
Second, (along those same lines) if you leave something here, we cannot guarantee its safety. We have two LARGE puppies who seem to think the night is the time to eat anything on our property that we forgot to put away. You would be surprised at what they think is tasty. Although we attempt to get everything put away before we head inside, we sometimes miss things. So, keep track of anything that's especially important to you!
Third, we will be posting a corkboard in the shop kitchen (where the bathroom is) for kids to display fliers on different things that they sell. So, if your child wants to place an ad, have them make a flier.
Fourth, I will selfishly be having a used curriculum table. I say that this is selfishly done because I have a LOT of extra curricula that I never got to use, and I need to clean out my closet ;-). So, I will open up this table to you as well. If you see curricula that you want, take it...it's free. If you want to bring FREE curricula to share, you are welcome to do so, I simply ask that you take home anything that you brought that doesn't get grabbed. In other words, only my stuff gets to be left behind ;-).
Fifth, although we try hard to keep mosquitoes and ants to a minimum, we will be outside, and I don't control insects. Mosquitoes do not bother me much, so I don't think we have a lot, but if you are a mosquitoes' favorite snack, you may want to bring mosquito deterrent of some kind the first week. We try to keep the ants away with Diatomaceous Earth, so you might see white powder around the curbing. The white powder is not dangerous at all, but if the little ones play with it, it will stick on their clothing/hands. Again, it is NOT dangerous, just messy.
And now onto the important things...

Group A-- Ages 5-8
You will be doing P.E. this week. This year we are pleased to have Miss Honor leading the P.E. for Group A. She loves the little ones and has plenty of energy to herd cats :-). Please note: P.E. will be happening in the pasture. There will not be a lot of shade. Please come prepared for the heat. Cool clothes and water bottles are helpful. Also note, it is important that those in the pasture follow the code of conduct rules for the animals. No chasing animals. No picking up animals. Be nice to any animal that approaches you.
Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. <3
Materials Needed:
Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.
And clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
Group B--Ages 9-12
You will be doing the Project this week. We are going to start off this year again with a 2-Liter Bottle Rocket Launch. You will need to bring your own EMPTY 2-Liter Soda Bottle (or Pop Bottle if you're from the MidWest). Preferably more than one if you have them! It is important that they are 2-liters instead of 1-liters...1-liter bottles don't fit on the launcher as well. We will learn about the science behind rocket propulsion and then make some rockets that we will shoot off in the pasture. Note: not a lot of shade in the pasture, so bring a hat or sunscreen or an umbrella or some sort of mixture of all of these.
Materials Needed:
EMPTY 2-Liter bottles. At least one. More is better in case other people forget <3
Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.
Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
A great attitude!
Group C--Ages 13-18
You will be doing Gardening this week. Depending on what we are able to get prepped ahead of time, we have a few different projects to choose from. I will leave them up for Ms. Paula to describe, but, come prepared to get dirty--don't wear your nicest clothes! Note: you MIGHT be painting, so keep that in mind.
Materials Needed:
Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.
Gardening gloves if you want to wear them.
An apron or smock if you want to cover your clothes.
Those teenagers that do not feel like participating in Gardening are welcome to volunteer with Group A. Please note: you WILL be put to work if you volunteer in that capacity!

Picnic Lunch
Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
