Hi All!!!
What a great first day back! It was so much fun to see all the new faces (36 of you!) and the many returning faces. We missed several of our "regular" friends...hoping to see you all back this week. All-in-all, we had 90 kids sign-in. Good day!
I thoroughly enjoyed shooting off 2-liter bottle rockets with Group B. I think they thought I was a bit crazy because I squealed every time. It was like a Jack-in-the-Box!! I'm looking forward to repeating that project this week with the teens, but THEY'RE pulling the pin this week!
And now onto the important things...

Group A-- Ages 5-8
You guys will be designing and decorating your very own FAIRY GARDEN this year!! Ms. Paula and I figured that this group loves running through the dirt and gardening and we didn't want to have to fret over squashed flowers, so we are giving Group A their very own garden plot this year--the triangle that is closest to the house. Ms. Paula will be helping this group make some stationary plants and then she will teach them different parts of gardening and each gardening time, they will get to "help the fairies" with a different aspect of making their city. She will also have a Where's Waldo Gnome (or some other character) that the kiddos will get to find. Don't worry...there will be trucks and roads to build also for those who prefer that kind of play--it's a full out fairy city! So... get ready to play in the dirt and have some fun, while learning a lot about growing plants.
Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. <3
Materials Needed:
Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.
And clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.
Garden gloves if you think you want them.
OPTIONAL (but recommended): If you would like to bring some little fairy garden decorations to put in the garden (permanently), please feel free to bring whatever you would like. We would like the kiddos to feel like they are contributing something, and we plan to move these around periodically to add a little whimsy to the area.
Group B--Ages 9-12
Tennis shoes and comfortable clothes
Water bottles
Group C--Ages 13-18
You will be doing the Project this week. Like I said before, we are going to do the 2-Liter Bottle Rockets again. You will need to bring your own EMPTY 2-Liter Soda Bottle (or Pop Bottle if you're from the MidWest). Preferably more than one if you have them! It is important that they are 2-liters instead of 1-liters...1-liter bottles don't fit on the launcher as well. We will learn about the science behind rocket propulsion and then make some rockets that we will shoot off in the pasture. Note: not a lot of shade in the pasture, so bring a hat or sunscreen or an umbrella or some sort of mixture of all of these.
Materials Needed:
EMPTY 2-Liter bottles. At least one. More is better in case other people forget <3
Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire.
Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Those teenagers that do not feel like participating in the Project are welcome to volunteer with Group A. Please note: you WILL be put to work if you volunteer in that capacity!

Picnic Lunch
Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
