January 13th

Hi all!

Long time no see!  I miss you!  I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year's Day celebration...and enjoyed all the rain following those!  I enjoyed the rain AFTER finishing all of my animal chores--trudging through mud is not all that much fun for us adults...

This is what our farm looked like as of Monday, January 9th--a week after all the rain. 

But now that we are mostly dried out, we can plan some new fun activities!

First, for those of you who didn't see my previous post, we will NOT be having co-op on March 17th. I highly recommend you signing up for a "field trip" to the Pinal County Fair. It is free for homeschoolers that day (well, it's free for any school that day, but we count as "schools" ;-) ). Here's the post with more information about that: Pinal County Fair 

Second, along the lines of the first one. The reason the farm will be "closed" on March 17th is because I am the Dairy Goat Supervisor for the Pinal County Fair...so I am going to let you know about an amazing opportunity. If your child is between 8 and 19 as of January 1, 2023, and lives in Pinal County, they have the opportunity to win ribbons and awards at the Pinal County Fair, March 15-19, 2023. They have the ability to show and/or sell animals: Dairy Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Guinea Pigs (Cavy).  They can also display and/or auction off Ag Mechanic Projects (Woodworking, metal working, 3-D Printing, etc.). Many kids use these auctions to pay for college. And even if they don't make much money in the auction part, it is a lot of fun just to show. If you have registered dairy goats and would like to show them, I would be happy to help coach your kiddo after co-op on Fridays. My daughter, Ariana, would also love to help coach any kiddos who would like to show their chickens. It has been a while, but my son, Samuel could also help coach those interested in showing rabbits. (Goats and rabbits must be registered and tattooed--ask me if you have any questions about what that means.)

Animals must be registered by January 25th. Projects must be registered by February 15th.

Schedule for Friday, January 13, 2023

From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:

Group A-- Ages 5-8

You will be doing P.E. this week. Miss Honor has come up with lots of fun games to play with you all. Come prepared to run and have fun!  

Please note: P.E. will be happening in the pasture.  It is important that those in the pasture follow the code of conduct rules for the animals. No chasing animals. No picking up animals. Be nice to any animal that approaches you. 

Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. <3

Materials Needed: 

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire. 

And clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Group B--Ages 9-12

You will be doing the Project this week. This week you will be working together in teams to solve a scavenger hunt. Be prepared to do some work to solve some puzzles and win a prize!

Materials Needed: 

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire. 

Clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

A great attitude!

Group C--Ages 13-18

You will be doing Gardening this week. You will be working with Ms. Paula to grow some mushrooms from scratch!  Come prepared to get dirty and have fun!

Materials Needed: 

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire. 

Gardening gloves if you want to wear them.

Those teenagers that do not feel like participating in Gardening are welcome to volunteer with Group A. Please note: you WILL be put to work if you volunteer in that capacity!

Picnic Lunch

Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
