April 7th

Hi guys!

I realize that Friday is Good Friday, however, we typically don't celebrate Good Friday until the evening, so we are still planning to meet, though I definitely understand if you won't be able to make it because you want to keep that day sacred. 

I have posted this before, but if you are unfamiliar with Good Friday, this whiteboard illustration gives a short explanation as to why many Christians call the Friday before Easter--or Resurrection Sunday as we call it in our home--Good Friday: Video. Also, this is an illustrated version of one of my favorite folk tales that tells about the life of Jesus through the story of Three Trees...in addition to studying the passages about Christ's death and Resurrection in the Bible, It is a tradition for me to read this to my children every Easter...and cry every single time (literally, EVERY time...my kids will tell you). On to farm news...

Last Friday, Group A kiddos were able to see a chick in the incubator pip. Although I didn't think in advance to do a time lapse video of the chick hatching, I did think to take a picture of her (we call all of our baby chicks "her" after she hatched and a small video.

And now on to this week's schedule!

 From 10-Noon(ish) we will break into group activities:

Group A-- Ages 5-8

You will be doing the PE this week. And we have a PE first... Ms. Paula is running PE this week! She is very excited and has all sorts of fun planned for you!  Come prepared to get some exercise and have lots of fun!

Parents, if your little ones tend to wander, please stay close by. You are responsible for taking your child to the restroom or providing them with water if they get thirsty. Try to remind them that this is a group activity, and they should try to stick with their group as much as possible. That will really help keep things flowing smoothly for everyone. <3

Materials Needed: 

Tennis shoes and comfortable clothes 

Sunscreen and Water Bottles...if you so desire. 

And clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting dirty.

Group B--Ages 9-12

You will be doing Gardening this week. Mr. D will be working with you to make a new sanctuary for Shelby! Come ready to build and plant and have fun with our tortoise. 

Materials Needed: 

Water bottles

Sunscreen if you so desire 

Garden gloves if you think you want some 

Group C--Ages 13-18

You will be doing the Project this week. We will be working with goats!  Come learn what it takes to care for goats, how to trim hooves, and how to make variations of farmer's cheese.

Water bottles

Sunscreen if you so desire 

Those teenagers that do not feel like participating in the Project are welcome to volunteer with Group A or Group B. Please note: you WILL be put to work if you volunteer in that capacity!

Picnic Lunch

Everyone is welcome to stay and have a picnic lunch in the backyard area. You are responsible for bringing your own lunch. Please do not feed any animals with that lunch and please make sure all garbage is disposed of in the dumpster or garbage can.
